There's something pushing at the fences A dull whisper carried by the poison wind Something scratching at the back door over and over and over and over again There's something pushing at the fences It won't be long before they fall in There's something pushing at the fences Over and over and over and over again America was a psychosis Left a stain that won't wash out There's something pushing at the fences Can't you feel the air in here getting thin? There's something pushing at the fences with flashing eyes and a vicious grin There's something pushing at the fences It won't be long before they fall in There's something pushing at the fences Over and over and over and over again America was a psychosis Clap for the bomb, laugh til the end Always so sure that we were the ones who chose this We were there when they put up the fence. I hope we're gone when it comes down. America was a safe place to hide, a warm hearth, ringed with wire, but now there's something pushing at the fences. Never wanted so much to just close my eyes, felt so much better when the guns pointed out. There's something pushing at the fences I hope we're gone when they come down.

I sang a deep wood High up on a strange mountain top Cut by cold lines of rushing streams Bathed in the light of a better sun And you were the only one to see it Slipping out from in between the waves A sight for only sensitives and synesthetes A deeper blue, a richer green, a darker gray Behind this paper-thin facade Maybe there's a bright and verdant place Maybe there's a light seen by no eye Maybe there are colors in no space. I've got this feeling that won't ever go away Surrounded on all sides by color in no space.

Don't stop out too late at night Stop! It's a caution. Don't cross at the red light Stop! It's a caution. To act for the good of congressman is money A balance of power will ensure our safety (Making money is making sense Making money is making sense It's logical, it's making sense Making money is making sense) Life! It's a shame Don't stop out too late at night Stop! It's a caution. Don't cross at the red light Stop! It's a caution. To act for the good of congressman is money The right to get rich is in the Constitution To talk of corruption is to breed insurrection Elected to power, in suspense of interest. You and I, we are satellites It's a shame. To act for the good is to defend our homeland A balance of power will ensure our safety To step out of line is to risk disaster To walk in the rain is to risk Pneumonia A balance of power will ensure our safety You and I, we are satellites It's a shame. Life! It's a shame

There's a machine that holds it all together, somewhere out there in the desert, and one day it will die. There's a machine that holds it all together, somewhere out there in some desert, and one day it will die. a whoa oo wuh-oh They say it's been here forever, powered by fire, powered by coal, powered by oil, powered by nuclear fusion, and now, by nothing. It's been here forever, powered by hope, powered by prayer, powered by love, and now powered by nothing at all. There was a jolt, a shudder, a riot of flashing red lights, and sounds, and now I can see it slowing down I swear I see it slowing down And I wonder how long until it runs down completely Yeah, I wonder what it will feel like as my atoms drift apart Yeah, I wonder what it will feel like when each and every one of my atoms drift apart. Drift apart. Let's drift apart.

I wanted to come by but we had to stay inside. We have to stay inside. We do our best to comply, but there is so much time. There is so much time. I don't wanna do anything anymore. Another day crawls by. A never ending line A never ending line. Not much to do but hide. There's poison in the sky. poison in the sky. I don't wanna do anything anymore. until it's down to you and me, and we will meet in these empty streets.

This place is different in the sunshine Look out the window today Maybe I'm just desperate for a few reasons for you to stay But all you wanna do is go. There's a secret in the sunshine the kind that burns the sidewalks yellow-gray and all these messages in pastel chalk are saying all there is to say When all you wanna do is go. Now, I've got time and you've got mine We will be fine When the sun shines It's different in the sunshine

We have washed our hands again. We are keeping our distance. We exchange our shouted greetings to the other side of the fence "See you in a month" you said but I'm not so sure. No one knows anything anymore. We have put our face masks on to keep our sickness from the air. Creep through the city like bandits stealing the space we used to share. "Call me when it's over" you said but I'm not so sure what over even means anymore Hey, don't you miss everything? Like I miss everything like I miss you. We have put our brave face on so the children cannot see everything that we're afraid of, every thing that things could be. "See you on the other side", you said but I'm not so sure if I will be the same anymore. Hey, don't you miss everything? Like I miss everything like I miss you I don't wanna eat, I don't wanna sleep, I don.t wanna read, oh I don't wanna watch tv and no one's listening to me I can't stand to be here anymore I don't wanna die in here.

Empty Plans 02:46
The street was soaked in useless sunshine on the last day I remember We were making empty plans to drag ourselves out of this winter But winter never really ends it just claws its way inside you I know I said I miss my friends but I'm not really sure that I do Does everybody have a place to go? Does everybody have a place that they can go? This summer never even landed. It just drifted by above us. We watched it from our open windows, subtracting one from what we had left. What do we have left? How much do you have left? You can count your blessings, while you count the days down.

Last Summer 03:48
Last summer, I dreamed that you were a falling star that crashed into my house and burnt it all to ashes, burnt the ashes into smaller ashes and spread them all over Lorraine Avenue, then you waited for the rain to wash them down the gutter and, as far as I know, you are still waiting because this summer has been so dry that all the grass in the back yard has gone all brown and rotten. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait another day for you to figure out last summer was when everything went wrong. Everybody's got a job to do, and everybody's got another weekend coming and we know what is best for you. Yeah, we know what is best for you We got men with the right degrees and we need them to keep the power running. They know what is best for me. Yeah, they know what is best for me. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait another day for you to figure out last summer was when everything went wrong and now It's too late, It's too late, It's too late, It's too late, It's too late. Oh, can't you feel the night air inching colder and the days just don't seem quite as long. When the rains come, you'll have withered down to nearly nothing, a shriveled mass unstably perched on a pile of rubble, water rushing throught the empty streets and you'll just sit there staring at it, wishing you were younger. Wishing you were younger

It would take a stronger man than me to resist this sirens call of kicked out windows and free-floating misery Hey, listen, there's something in the air here and hidden under every foot of ground there's a trap that lures in the unwary "One of us" they call "One of us" It would take a ten megaton bomb to burn away the stain of abusive boyfriends, neighbors, mailmen and pets. Hey, listen, you've got to keep aware here cause hidden behind all these drunken eyes, this town's list of sin's exhaustive and I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted. An easy town's an easy drug, you know. It would take a good 25 years to leach all of the poison from the river you sit by on all your lonely nights. Hey, listen, here's a deadly sort of beauty. A beauty born of sickness and despair Borne in rust and dirty water. "Jump on in" it calls "Jump on in." An easy town's an easy drug, you know.

Old Habits 02:12
Dragging all the weight of mid-July Somehow still so desperate to get outside to streets stalked by the virus and the men with guns, may they find each other. I've been picking up old habits I thought were dead Like biting nails, and twisting hair, and pondering the conditions under which I might take up arms against the government A-wuh-ooo-wuh-oh oh When I emerge, blinking, from this underground to all my friends and neighbors staring numbly around We'll fumble with our words and how they sound. What did people used to talk about? Hey, have you guys picked up habits you thought were dead? Like seething hate, existential dread? Picturing all these motherfuckers coughing out their final ugly breaths? A-wuh-ooo-wuh-oh oh It's been such a hot night that I can't help wonder if you're feeling alright.

The sun is just behind that cloud. Home is just over that hill. I am patient. I know how to wait. There is always another hill, but I am patient. There is always another cloud, but I am patient. I am patient. I know how to wait.

This is my hole. Watch how perfectly I fit in. See how everything around me dissappears. In my hole I am slowly inching forward Feels like I've been waiting so long to begin. To wrench to stretch to twist to bend and what went in at the start is not what comes out at the end This is my hole. And in my hole none of your voices reach my ears just the soft, slow scrape of skin on stone. In my hole made just for me I am utterly and joyously alone. No one can know the ending of the story that's taking shape today But when I squint into the darkness reaching out before me, I can see the future slowly coming this way To wrench to stretch to twist to bend and what went in at the start is not what comes out at the end Oh, I wrenched and I stretched. Yeah, I twisted and I bent and what you understood to be me won't be seen around here again. This is my hole

On our way from Stockholm it started to snow and you said it was like Christmas but you were wrong. It wasn't like Christmas at all. By the time we got to Oslo, the snow was gone, and we got lost. The beds were small, but we felt so young. It was just like Christmas. It was just like Christmas.

We could have it if we don't get caught. We could have it if we don't get caught. We could have it if we don't get found out. We could eat like queens. We could taste the sweet blood of the gods of this world. We could suck the very marrow from the bones of the universe. Just don't get found out. You could have it if you don't get caught. You could have it if you don't get caught. This world is yours if you keep your voice down. There are things upon this Earth too big to comprehend and they could be our food, if you don't get found out. All the splendor of this garden of delight awaits you, if you can keep your mouth shut. There's a rich feast set here for us to devour, but for God's sake Don't get found out. You take what's yours and I'll take what's mine, as long as you know, It's only, it's only, it's only a matter of time You could have it if you don't get caught. It's only a matter of time
